What three questions would you ask the author if he or she were here?

What was the setting?  How did the author tell you about the setting?

How did the cover art prepare you for the story?  Describe it.  Was the illustration accurate?

If you were able to meet one of the characters, whom would you choose and what would you talk about?

What kinds of illustrations are used in the book?  How did they help tell the story?  Would you have changed any of them?

What did you think was the most important part of the story?  What happened, and why was it important?

If you were the author, would you have ended the story the same way or would you end it differently?  How would you end it?  Why?

How important was the title? Would you change it?  What title would you give it?  Why?

Find and list at least five words or phrases you would like to add to your personal vocabulary.  Define any that you do not know.

What were the surprises in this story?  Tell about two or three instances where you could not have predicted what happened.

Find an example of "telling" sentences and an example of a "showing" paragraph.  Copy them and comment on the reason why you think they were effective.

What was the main problem of the story?  How was it solved?

Some books have more than one problem. Tell about other problems that were in your book.

Draw a picture of the most interesting part of your book.  Caption the picture with two or three sentences that explain the scene you pictured.

Find a total of 10 examples of any of the following: personification, alliteration, metaphors, similes, onomatopoeia, or idioms.

Collect 10 or 15 multi-syllable words.  List them, look them up, and then tell which ones you like best.

Attach this menu to your answer sheet.  All answers must be proofread and written in complete sentences.  The best answers for most of the questions will be about one paragraph in length.  You should have four paragraphs when you are finished.
