                     Welcome to the

                    Pierre-Auguste Renoir

                  Artist Gallery

Pierre-Auguste Renoir is our first featured artist in the Art Gallery of Room 123.  Read a book about Renoir and complete the question sheet.  Then color the picture of one of his famous paintings.  Then turn in your work to Mrs. Byer so that you can receive your own sticker of a Renoir painting.  Collect all six of the stickers this year and you will have your own private art gallery.  You can learn more about Renoir by reading below.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French painter who painted about 6000 pictures during the 60 years he worked as an artist. When he was 4 years old his family moved to Paris where he lived in an apartment in the Louvre which was then a royal palace, but now is a great art museum.

Renoir began as a singer but decided to be a painter when he was 13.

Later he met Edgar Degas and Edouard Manet and became one of the first 'Impressionists". His work was light and lively showing scenes of daily Paris life with people socializing and enjoying life.

Here are three paintings by this great French painter.

Luncheon of the Boating Party

Two Sisters

The Umbrellas
