I hope you are having an enjoyable and relaxing summer.  It sure has gone fast, hasn’t it?  I am looking forward to meeting you when school starts.

Usually the first thing students like to do to get ready for a new school year is to run out and buy supplies.  Before you go shopping please note the specific things that you will need.  Some things will be provided for you at school.  For example, I will give you a new pencil each month, a box of 8 crayons on the first day of school, tablet, 2 spiral notebooks, a journal, and notebook paper for in-school work.  But, you may want to have extra pencils, your own markers or crayons for in-school use, etc.  I suggest getting a pencil box to hold your items.  The long, skinny Spacemaker that holds a 12” ruler is one that will fit nicely into your desk

You need a 2-inch binder for poetry.  Make sure the binder is sturdy.  The ones with zippers work very well.  Do not put anything else in this binder. It will be full by the end of the year!

While you are shopping, you might want to get supplies for your homework survival kit so you can complete your homework without stress. See the list of supplies that I suggest having on hand at home for doing your homework.

Another way to prepare for school is to study your summer packet.  Make sure that you know the map items and also have practiced your math facts.  You will have a test on these things during the first week of school.

Check out more about our classroom by reading through this web page. You will find out a great many things about what we will be doing in 4th grade. Feel free to send me and email if you have any questions.

See you real soon,

Mrs. Byer
