Our Writing: Week 4

Robert Louis Stevenson

We read poems from Robert Louis Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses.  Then we wrote poems about the same subjects.

The Beach

Going to the beach, it’s so fun

with the warm weather,

picking up seashells by the water.

by Micah

Water

When you hop into water,

You get the cold rush down your back.

You may find ocean creatures,

Please cut them some slack!

You may play in the water.

You may swim all around.

But most of all I like

the splashing sound.

by Jeremy

Horses

Hooves are icy.

Horses are pretty.

Their fur is so frizzy.

And they are so cuddly.

Summer Over

Summer fun, spring over.

Fall to come, winter later.

Spring rainy, summer hot.

Fall breezy, winters not.

I don’t like Spring.

I don’t like Fall.

Neither Winter but

Summer and that’s all.

I love it.

I love it.

I love it that my shirt turns dye.

that I fell like I really fly.

That is called summer fun

and I feel like a king

with lots of rings and

dollars and coins.

            by Emani

                    The Swing

The swing goes high

The swing is fun.

It feels like a roller coaster when

Your eyes are shut.

            by Mikayla

Sunny

It is sunny outside.

Oh it is sunny outside.

Look up at the sun bright,

Look, look to see the clouds.

Look down at the grass down low…

and Splat!

Not that is the end of my poem!

            by Kataya

Happy Thoughts

Candy, ice cream, and cream sodas too!

Playing outside and going to the zoo!

Happy thoughts…

Here are just a few!

            by Meg

Birds

Red birds, black birds, blue birds too.

I like watching birds, do you?

            by Towand
