Columbus sailed the

Ocean.  He

Landed here in 1492.

Used Santa Maria, Pinta, and Nina

Made a great discovery

Began his journey from Spain

Unique idea

Saw that America was different.

             Christopher

Courageous

Overcoming doubts

Loving

Uses smarts to figure out

Making decisions

But he found a new world

Uses all his courage

Smartest of them all.

Columbus sailed the ocean blue

Out looking for things to do.

Looking for spices and soap.

Under the queen’s permission, he went.

Made it to the new world.

Buying the ships to sail.

Understood the world was round.

Sailing is his favorite thing to do.

      Columbus’s Journey

Columbus sailed in 1492.

Only had a crew of jailers.

Left on August 3

Unafraid of sailing on

Made his crew sail on

Bumped into America

Unheard of land for explorers

Sailing took 71 days.

Courageous

Over the ocean

Losing his way

Up on the crow’s nest

                   Columbus

Columbus proved other people wrong

Outstanding man

Looked for a new world

Unheard world that Columbus found

Man who was wise

Brave man who sailed on a boat

Unlike others, he was different

Sailed the ocean blue.

         The Explorer

Columbus sailed the ocean blue

On three ships in 1492.

Looking for a new world

Until he had the help of the Spanish

            Queen.

Men thought he would fail.

But he set sail

Under the flag of Spain

So he could find the new land.

         Sailing with Columbus

Christopher had a crazy idea that the world was round, not flat. Everyone thought he was crazy, and thought he would fall off the end of the earth. There were 150 men who volunteered to go on the voyage with him. Most of the men were prisoners.  The king gave the crew three ships—the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria.
